No53,Otsu. Sketch the 53 station in Tokaido. 東海道五十三次を描いてみたい。第五十三、大津宿。

This is the 53rd station, Otsu-jyuku. My wife and I visited some stations during new year holidays as my hometown is Kyoto. Otsu-Jyuku is the last station in Tokaido. Hiroshige Utagawa painted the Hashirii-Chaya where was the pass near Kyoto. There were some teahouses along the street. However, there was the temple named Gesshin-Ji nowadays, the gate lamp said “Hashirii".

第五十三、大津宿です。実家が京都なので、年末の帰省に合わせていくつか宿を回ってきました。東海道最後の宿場の大津です。広重が描いたのは京都よりの峠の走井茶屋という場所で、当時は何件も茶屋が並んでいたみたいですが、今は月心寺になっていて、門灯に走井の文字だけが残っていました。

The well which water was overflowing from on the left side of the painting of Hiroshige. There was the well in the temple. We saw it over the wall because we can’t enter the temple.

広重の絵にも左側に水が溢れる井戸が描かれていますが、その井戸が、お寺の中にありました。しかしお寺には入れず、低い塀から見せてもらいました。

It took about five minutes from Otani Station, Keihan Railway. Otani Station was unmanned station and the platform was narrow. Automatic ticket gate was installed. It seems everybody can go through for free but everybody paid a fare.

走井茶屋跡は京阪電車大谷駅から歩いて5分ほどのところにありますが、大谷駅は無人駅でプラットフォームは狭く、黄色い線から体が出てしまうので気をつけなければいけません、また、無人駅ですが自動改札機がなんとなく設置されていますが、無視せずにきちんとタッチして出ました。日本しか成り立たないかもしれません。

We had lunch at an Oumiushi beef restaurant near JR Otsu station. I ordered a Sukiyaki bawl set meal. It was tender meat and delicious. 

大津駅近くの近江牛のレストランOKAKIで昼食をいただきました。私はすき焼き丼をお願いしました。ご飯の上にお肉と玉ねぎ、しめじなどが煮たものが乗っていて、横に錦糸卵が添えてありました。セットを頼んだのでお味噌汁とサラダが付いていました。近江牛は柔らかくて美味しかったです。
