No.3 Kanagawa station in Tokaido

「東海道五十三次、広重と同じ風景が見たい」、今回は第三宿、神奈川です。横浜駅から東側に歩いて10分ほどのところに旧街道があり,広重は台町の茶屋を描いています。当時は急な坂道にいくつもの茶屋が連なっていて、そこからは海が見えたようで、今の横浜駅は海だったそうです。現在は田中屋という料亭が一件だけ残っているだけですが、今でも有名らしくこのスケッチをしている間にも七五三などのお祝いで会食する人たちが訪れていました。

"I sketch the 53 views in Tokaido, which Hiroshige drew” 

This is the third station, Kanagawa-jyuku. There is an old road about 10 minutes from JR Yokohama station. About 180 years ago, Hiroshige Utagawa drew restaurants in Daimachi. There were some restaurants along the steep slope. You could see the sea in restaurants. Nowadays, there is only one restaurant named Tanakaya. It seems to be popular to local people. They celebrated something in there during sketching.  

その後、みなとみらい地区に移動し、横浜、ぷかりさん橋を描きました。ここは客船ターミナルで、ヨコハマインターコンチネンタルホテルの裏にあります。なんどもこの辺りには遊びに来ていて、一度も入ったことはありませんが、外観は魅力的です。

After that, I went to Minatomirai district, I sketched the Pukari-Sanbashi which are the passenger terminal. There is behind the Intercontinental hotel. I visited many times but I have never entered there. However, this house has a wonderful exterior.

この日、新港埠頭がオープンして着岸第一船の「ダイヤモンドプリンセス」が着岸していました。新しい客船ターミナルの「横浜ハンマーヘッド」もオープンしていたようですが、あまりの人だったので、遠目に見ているだけにしました。

That day, The Shinko pier was opened and the first ship, Diamond Princess was docked. A new cruise terminal named Yokohama Hammerhead was opened too. It was so crowded, I only see there from a distance.
